Lighting Up Conversations

A shade for shared grounds.

For the Anthology ASEAN Architecture Festival 2026, Demanco revisited the Scaffold Table Lamp through a custom ocean blue shade, developed in response to the festival’s visual identity. The intervention is deliberately simple: a familiar object, given a new expression for a particular place and occasion. In doing so, the lamp becomes part of Anthology’s larger conversation around “Shared Ground: Architecture of Care, Culture, and Collective Futures”—a theme that considers architecture not simply as what we build, but as a framework for how we come together.

The scaffold has always been central to the lamp’s language. It is temporary, structural, and inherently collective—a system designed to support something as it takes shape. Within the context of Anthology, this takes on a broader resonance. The ocean blue shade softens and transforms the industrial language of the lamp, while its underlying structure remains unchanged: a reminder that design can evolve through context without losing the ideas that shaped it. For Demanco, each iteration is an opportunity to continue the experiment.

The collaboration also finds common ground with WTA Architecture and Design Studio, the practice behind Anthology. WTA’s work is rooted in architecture’s ability to create connections, foster communities, and respond meaningfully to the people and places it serves. These ideas closely align with Demanco’s own ambition to explore the space between architecture, objects, art, and everyday life. The custom Scaffold Table Lamp stands as a small expression of that shared position—where making becomes a way of connecting, and an object becomes part of a larger architectural conversation.
